Made for privacy
Dikkle is built so that we cannot build a profile of you, even if we wanted to.
What we do not do
- No tracking cookies, no advertising IDs, no fingerprinting, no third-party scripts, fonts or images. Every image on our pages, including Wikipedia images, is fetched by our server, so other sites never see your visit.
- We never store your searches with your IP address, a cookie or an account.
- When you click a result, the site you visit is not told what you searched for (we send no referrer).
What we do keep
- Aggregate counts. For each day we count how often a search was made, with nothing about who made it. We use this to make suggestions better. Counts are deleted after 30 days, and a search only ever appears as a suggestion after many different days of use.
- Short-lived abuse protection. To stop automated flooding, we keep a counter per IP address in memory for one minute. It is never written to disk.
- Theme choice. If you choose light or dark, a cookie remembers that one choice.
- Webmaster tools. If you sign in to manage a site, we keep your account ID, email and the sites you add, so we can show you your sites. You can remove a site at any time.
